PARTS - JAZZ

Number One Super Guy!

First Appearance:

More Than Meets The Eye pt 1, Season 1

Character Description:

Jazz was one of my favorite Transformers as a kid, perhaps only rivalled by Bumblebee. I remember calling the family car Jazz at a young age, a fact made mildly embarassing by way of the car actually being a Datsun station wagon of some sort. I also recall a certain fondness for Hong Kong Fooey, so maybe I owe it all to the great Scatman Crothers.

WRIST GRAPPLING HOOK

Episode/Episodes

More Than Meets The Eye, pt 2

Part Description

I'd say that this is probably the Jazz part that everyone remembers the most - which is only fitting, as it was the first one he ever used. In the first set of images, Jazz uses his grappling line to pull Optimus Prime on to part of an of oil rig that escaped Megatron's blowing most of it up. In the second series, he's... saving Optimus again, after the Autobot leader was knocked off of a dam. Prime sure gets himself in trouble a lot, don't he?

WRIST GRAPPLING HOOK

Episode/Episodes

More Than Meets The Eye, pt 3

Part Description

Once more, Jazz uses his grappling line to pull someone safely from water - this time Bluestreak and Ironhide, the latter of whom had been shot down by the Decepticons.

VEHICLE MODE HYDROFOILS

'Into the ocean, let's be daring! The last one in is a rusty herring!' Yet more hydrofoils. You know, doing mouse-over text for ALL the images was Jhiaxus' idea. Really, blame him. I know I do.

Episode/Episodes

The Ultimate Doom, pt 1

Part Description

Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Optimus Prime were able to reach the off-shore island where a sultan had set up his solar power station thanks to Wheeljack's latest upgrade package.

VEHICLE MODE SPEAKERS I

Popping the speakers out. They're out. This is Sparkplug, Spike's father. He's looking at the speaker.

Ah say shake, rattle n' roll.. Shake, rattle n' roll.. Shake, rattle n' roll.. 'Wow! It's rock'n'roll with real rocks!'

These three are from later in the same episode. Megatron was trying to steal the solar satellite. So Jazz did some sonic disrupting.

Episode/Episodes

Attack of the Autobots

Part Description

Jazz pops out his giant vehicle mode speakers to bring the house down - or, in this case, Megatron's plan to steal the solar satellite.

VEHICLE MODE SOUND & LIGHT SHOW

Jazz's name in Japan is 'Meister.' I looked this up once. Apparently there's a German opera called 'Die Meistersinger.' The colors, man, the colors.. The Japanese transliteration for 'Die Meistersinger' is 'maisutaajingaa.' I guess Jazz likes German opera when he's in Japan, or something.

Episode/Episodes

The Immobilizer

Part Description

Although Jazz's ability to create a sound and light show in robot mode is documented in his tech specs and TFU profile, it never said anything about his vehicle mode. So, here ya go.

CHEST LIGHTS

'Erm... well, as far as I can see... it appears to be something to do with the upper chassis design...' 'PIG!' 'Ulp! Then again, maybe there's more to it!' 'You got the Shine in you boy.'

Episode/Episodes

Enter the Nightbird

Part Description

Since he turns into a car, it only makes sense that Jazz has working headlights.

VEHICLE MODE SPEAKERS II

'Better to fight and die than to live with the knowledge that I ran!'

Episode/Episodes

Enter the Nightbird

Part Description

Unlike their last appearance, these speakers go over Jazz's spoiler instead of sticking out from the sides.

WRIST AFTERBURNERS

Look, ma, no hands! Autobots, AFTERBURN! And awaaaay we go... I have nothing to say in this caption. And here they are, landing.

Episode/Episodes

The Core

Part Description

Jazz, Sunstreaker, and Wheeljack needed to get to the bottom of a canyon so they could place Dominator Disks on the Constructicons, which would allow the Autobots to control Devastator next time he combined. For some reason, I guess they thought wrist-mounted afterburners would make less noise than, say, a grappling hook or a parachute. Go figure.
