PARTS - IRONHIDE
SEASON 1
First Appearance:
More Than Meets The Eye pt 1, Season 1
Character Description:
Ironhide never forgets - or wouldn't, if he were the Beast Wars elephant bearing his name. Still, if you were Ironhide, you'd have so many powers that it'd be EASY to forget what you could do. This 'bot easily earns the title of "Swiss Army Knife of the Autobots" from us here at the Obscure Transformer Website. He's like Superman, only red and Southern. Oh, and his toy has no head, but that's fine by us.
VEHICLE MODE LASER CANNON
Episode/Episodes
More Than Meets The Eye, pt 2
Part Description
Ironhide's career as a swiss army knife got off to an inauspicious start. He didn't even have any parts featured in the first installment of More Than Meets The Eye! With this, his first featured part ever, Ironhide prevents water from a busted-up Sherman Dam from flooding a town. Note that the Sherman Dam incident was more-or-less directly kipped for the UK comic story Decepticon Dam-Busters. Also, while the cannon resembles the missile launcher on his toy's attack-base, it's physically impossible to position it like this in van mode.
FOREARM DRILL
Episode/Episodes
More Than Meets The Eye, pt 3
Part Description
Now this is the kind of thing that would make Ironhide famous. With Sparkplug Witwicky and Bumblebee trapped underneath a mountain of rock, Ironhide and the others set to digging them free.
BACK MISSILE LAUNCHER
Episode/Episodes
More Than Meets The Eye, pt 3
Part Description
After freeing Sparkplug and Bumblebee, the Autobots witnessed the Decepticons flying off into the air. His circuits sizzlin', Ironhide.. flew up after them. But nevermind that. Bluestreak flew after Ironhide, and ole' rusty-pants produced a missile launcher from his back. Which, incidentally, looks like the missile launcher from his toy-base.
SHOULDER COLD CANNON
Episode/Episodes
Divide and Conquer
Part Description
Okay, so Prime goes and gets his Cosmotron fried by the Decepticons. It's up to the courageous team of Ironhide, Trailbreaker, Bluestreak, Bumblebee and, uh.. Chip Chase to go to Cybertron and get another one out of Wheeljack's lab. They need the Space Bridge. In the way are the Decepticons. So, kraka-thoom, Ironhide freezes Starscream in place because he was about to get assaulted by a tree trunk. Uh, nevermind the fact Megatron told the Decepticons to lose on purpose. Yeah.
WRIST GLUE LAUNCHERS
Episode/Episodes
Divide and Conquer
Part Description
Now on Cybertron, Ironhide glues Shockwave and a generic Reflector component's feet to the ground. Really, I think that the generic Reflector component was rather interesting, since he spoke with a different voice from the normal Reflector, but that's Jhiaxus' realm of expertise.
DETECTORS
Episode/Episodes
Divide and Conquer
Part Description
Ironhide used his detectors to... detect stuff. Specifically, he found the Cosmotron that they were looking for. Woo, Ironhide-finding-thingie-powers!
SONADAR SENSORS
Episode/Episodes
S. O. S. Dinobots
Part Description
With his Sonadar Sensors, Ironhide was able to scan through the stone walls of the volcano that Autobot Headquarters is stuck in to find some fossilized dinosaur bones.
HAND LASERS
Episode/Episodes
Heavy Metal War
Part Description
Ironhide shot at an approaching Megatron by generating laser blasts from his fists. A very Challenge Of The GoBots-inspired moment.
Let me just interject here and say how much I agree. One of the things that Transformers (as a cartoon) always had over the GoBots was the fact that they used guns. Even guys who didn't have guns as toys used guns. Even Spike would pick up guns (Transformer guns twice his size mind you) when he needed to fight! What were you thinking Ironhide? What were you thinking? -- Jhiaxus.
I liked Challenge of the GoBots. Because none of the toys had guns, you didn't have to worry about losing them, and could pretend they shot lasers from their fists at eachother.-- Monzo.
