...The Harder They Die!

Synopsis:  

Optimus Prime finds himself on Cybertron, and he beats up a Decepticon and saves Outback. When he finds some other Autobots, they attack him, because they've been deceived by Megatron into believing that Optimus is a Decepticon impostor.

Rant:  

This time around we only have one character to focus on. He's a green and blue guy who beat the crap out of Outback.

Issue 98 is a good story, with nice art, which flows well. There's an appearance by the Wreckers (Rack 'n' Ruin and a Guardian unit beat up Optimus Prime), Megatron and even the unstoppable Lord Straxus. In fact it's in this issue that you learn that Straxus didn't die on the Space Bridge, as first thought.

But all that's secondary when compared to the coolness of the Green Guy Who Beat Up Outback. (Okay, maybe it's not; but GGWBUO is more relevant to this website.)

GGWBUO is first seen beating the snot out of the poor little Autobot known as Outback. When Optimus Prime shows up and interferes, GGWBUO tried to fight. However he found his gun smashed from his hand, and himself suspended by his neck, high above the ground. GGWBUO retaliated by blasting Optimus Prime in the head with powerful optic lasers. That's right: a generic Transformer with a special power! Optimus threw GGWBUO blindly away, and the Decepticon landed on a massive steel spike and as we all know, getting impaled is an effective method of dying.

Incidentally, the art in this issue is amazing, some of Geoff Senior's finest. There are beautiful camera angles, incredibly emotive scenes and glorious battle-scarred landscapes. GGWBUO is just the icing on the cake.
